Abi J.E. Smith is an artist and professional cyclist, based near Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
Being born and bred in the Northern countryside, I have strong ties to the outdoors and the beauty of the natural landscapes around me. I chose a White Rose as my symbol, which combines my love of nature and my pride of Yorkshire.
As a professional road cyclist I compete in races such as the Commonwealth Games, European and World Championships. I travel all over the World for these races, but nothing is quite like home! I feel privileged that my training rides take me into the Dales, Moors, Pennines and beyond. I bring these sights back home to put down onto canvas to keep as more permanent memories of the places I have been and love.
I specialise in acrylic on canvas, predominantly painting landscapes. My personal favourites being the Lake District views, which is where my mother grew up and I spend much of my time when off the bike, for its quietness and steadier pace of life. I also work in pencil, pen and other mediums, as well as painting places further afield, flora and fauna, transport, buildings and more.
I was first drawn to art as a relaxation process, and my love for my work has only grown from there. It brings me great joy to paint and provide happiness for others.
